Loyola University New Orleans is accepting applications for the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach. Within the framework of the Loyola University mission of educating the whole person, the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach will fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: program and staff oversight, recruiting and developing student athletes, and promoting the program to the institution’s stakeholders.  This is a 12 month position.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred; minimum of three years successful coaching experience; expertise in technical aspects of Swimming with respect to national rules and regulations, safety guidelines, and cheer techniques; must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license as a condition of employment; must also be able to successfully pass any driver background information investigation and any driver education courses required by Risk Management; current CPR and AED certifications; ability to work effectively with college student- athletes, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community; a philosophy on intercollegiate athletics which places the highest emphasis on the pre-eminence of the academic mission of Loyola and the role of athletics as a part of the student’s holistic educational experience for both the student-athlete and the student non-athlete; a well-developed personal system of ethics that will be used as the basis for supervising and developing the intercollegiate program. This position must be able to drive/transport athletes.  Must be able to set up and take down swimming equipment.  Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 25lbs.

The position(s) assist the Head Swimming Coach with administering the swimming and diving program while complying with all University, GLIAC and NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
ü  Assist with daily operations of swimming and diving program
ü  Assist Aquatic Director responsibility
ü  Assist with coaching responsibilities during scheduled practice
ü  Assist with recruitment of Student-Athletes to the Swimming and Diving Program
ü  Learn and develop knowledge in compliance with University, GLIAC, and NCAA rules and regulations

ü  Experience in collegiate competition is preferred
ü  Knowledge of strokes, as well as competition training, technique and strategy
ü  Basic computer skills (preferred knowledge of Hy-Tek software or ability to learn it), preferred knowledge of Microsoft Office
 
COMPENSATION:
ü  GA Award carries an annual stipend ($5,500+) and 12 annual credits of graduate tuition remission
ü  The position is opened for those pursuing a Master’s degree on a continued basis over consecutive years based on performance

The assistant coach, Men’s and Women’s Swim & Dive is responsible for assisting in the administration of all aspects of the sport program including but not limited to: coaching and teaching of students, recruiting, game and practice preparation and execution, fund-raising/friend raising, committee participation, budget management, compliance with NCAA, and conference rules/regulations, participation as a member of the college community and with all collaborative departmental functions as needed. Continued employment in this temporary position is contingent upon your performance, behavior and compliance with Caltech’s policies and procedures. This is a part time, non benefit based position.
Job Duties
- Demonstrating a high level of teaching and coaching competency in sport skill instruction, sport strategy, tactics and rules, physical training and fitness and student motivation in practice execution.
 - Active game preparation through scouting, image analysis, strategy discussions, travel arrangements
- Participate in on and off campus recruitment activities of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes which will include data entry and correspondence, talent identification, communication of College opportunities and expectations. Must take NCAA rules test.

- Contributing to the maintenance of excellent working relationships with all members of the Department and promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program on and off campus.

Basic Qualifications

AA degree or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant experience necessary, including experience coaching men and women in the throws events. Must secure and maintain valid driver license during employment. Must be knowledgeable and skilled in all areas of the sport. Knowledge of SCIAC & NCAA rules and regulations. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain accurate attendance and other informational record keeping. Strong computing skills including database manipulation, document creation, blogging and ability to learn new specialized software applications.
-Must possess the following certifications or be able to obtain them before employment begins and maintain them throughout the course of employment:
1. Current Lifeguard Training and Community First Aid Certification.
2. Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification
3. Current AED Certification.
4. Water Safety Instructor Certification.
