Description: 

The University of Miami is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time, 12-month position of Assistant AD, Communications. This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the overall development and implementation of the women's swimming program. This will include all areas of recruiting from correspondence to evaluations to visits, coaching and leadership of current student-athletes, administrative duties, working with any camps and clinics and any additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.    

Duties:

A. Recruiting
  1. Recruit quality student-athletes who qualify academically and have swimming fundamentals and attitude to participate and compete at the highest level.
  2. Organize recruiting- tournaments/database/etc.
  3. Assist with recruiting efforts, mailings, emails, personal notes and phone calls to both potential student athletes and club/high school coaches.
  4. Scout talent in person and from videos sent. Record good recruiting notes and ratings into database.
  5. Arrange details for official and unofficial visits.
  6. Evaluate transcripts with academic department and clearinghouse and know admissions procedures.
  7. Document all recruiting activities.
  8. Be responsible for all NCAA rules, regulations, changes and successful completion of the coach’s certification test.
  9. Maintain recruiting budget.
  10. Present the University of Miami in the most positive manner.
 
B. Coaching
  1. Assist the head coach with coaching of all student athletes.
  2. Assist in planning and implementation of practices.
  3. Organize and implement land training program for student athletes.
  4. Communicate with the student-athlete as often as possible concerning academics, swimming, and anything else.
  5. Help administer team rules and policies.
  6. Support and enforce the head coach’s philosophy.
  7. Monitor facilities and equipment.
  8. Home and away match duties as specified.
  9. Coach student-athletes during off-season and summer in accordance with NCAA & ACC rules and regulations.
 
C. Administration
  1. Coordinate practice times for visiting teams and for us when we travel.
  2. Coordinate team travel.
  3. Develop itinerary for our away trips (including practice times, meetings, and meals).
  4. Assist with record keeping and paperwork (play and practice hours, class schedules, BERFs, check requisitions interdepartmental requisitions and purchase requisitions and all compliance forms).
  5. Assist with supervision of managers and volunteers.
  6. Liaison between game management staff and equipment manager.
  7. Assist with all banquets and functions.
  8. Know inventory of supplies and forward orders as needed (both stationary/administrative supplies and equipment).
  9. Liaison between academic advisor and student-athletes
 
D. Miscellaneous
  1. Additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
  2. Responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
  3. Attend Hurricane functions.
  4. Organize and delegate HyTek Meet and Team Manager for all home meets and entries.
  5. Keep the Head Coach informed with everything involved with all aspects of the swim team.
  6. Be available to help student-athletes with co-workers and other University of Miami staff.
  7. Maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other University of Miami staff.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration or related field; and two years or coaching experience. Two years Division 1 coaching experience preferred. Knowledge of NCAA rules required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree; Certified Pool Operator (CPO).

Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia invites applications for the part-time position, 10 month appointment, of Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach.  The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach reports to the Head Swimming Coach and Athletic Director, supporting all coaching responsibilities for the intercollegiate swimming program, under NCAA Division II operating bylaws and regulations.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with all aspects of recruiting; supporting training for all current athletes, and planning for travel and hosting of athletic competitions.
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimally).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years coaching experience.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) as well as the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
·         Possess a strong knowledge of athletic recruiting methods, techniques, rules, and regulations.
  • Have current life guard, CPR, and first aid certifications.
  • Be demonstrably committed to the success of student athletes, both in the pool and in the classroom.

  • Organizing, preparing, and conducting both individual and team practices; overseeing training and competition.
  • Recruiting student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations through scouting, attending games and tournaments, and home visits.

The Head Women’s Swim coach is responsible for the overall success, performance and conduct of the women's swimming and diving program. The coach is responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the activities of the women's swimming team. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a high standard of program excellence which includes proven success recruiting high-level, academically eligible student-athletes; development of the team/players; coaching; supervision of staff; management of the program budget; scheduling of contests; and public relations/donor relations. The Head Coach is responsible for conducting any duties or activities with integrity and within the rules of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), the Missouri Valley Conference and/or Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVC or MVFC), the State of Illinois, Illinois State University, and the Athletics Department. 

Qualifications: 

A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred. A proven ability to recruit, train and develop high-level women’s swim student-athletes is required. A minimum of two years’ experience coaching collegiate level women’s swimming is required. Proven successful college coaching experience is also required.
