Washington University in St. Louis seeks applications for the position of Assistant Swimming Coach. The Assistant Swimming Coach, serving on a 10-month contract, will report to the Head Swimming Coach, who operates under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Athletics. This is a full-time position which includes a full benefit package. The coach will assist with management of daily operations of a highly competitive NCAA Division III intercollegiate swimming program competing in the University Athletic Association (UAA). He or she will support the head coach and other assistant coaches in efforts to plan, recruit, coach, develop, implement, and administer the swimming & diving program to meet university and department objectives. Duties include assisting the head coach in the following areas of program operations: recruiting and practice organization, coaching and meet preparation, stroke analysis, dry land training, travel arrangements, fundraising, overseeing equipment, facility management, instructing selected physical education classes and other responsibilities as designated by the Director of Athletics or head coach.
The Assistant Swimming Coach will be a valued member of the Athletics Staff and will contribute to the mission of Washington’s nationally recognized Department of Athletics. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role that intercollegiate athletics can play in higher education. The person must be dedicated to the athletic, academic, and personal development of the Bears student-athletes and be prepared to work long and irregular hours to help all of WashU’s sport programs, and specifically its swimming & diving program, pursue UAA and NCAA championships.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience coaching collegiate or club swimming or experience competing in swimming at the collegiate level.
- Familiarity with NCAA rules and Division III philosophy.
- Must have current and valid CPR/AED and lifeguard certifications.
- Master’s degree
- Three years of experience coaching swimming at the collegiate or club level
