DePauw University Assistant Coach, Women's Swimming


Serve as assistant coach of the women's swimming program, operating under NCAA bylaws. The part-time assistant will report to the head coach, and will assist in all areas required to run a Division III program. This individual is actively involved in the recruiting of student athletes, and day to day operations of the women's swimming program.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Assist head coach in various, day-to-day duties as directed by the Head Coach, such as but not limited to, organizing, preparing, conducting, and evaluating individual and team practices, training, and competition.

Provide guidance and assistance to student-athletes on a range of athletic, academic and personal issues, as required.

Assist with practice sessions and game competitions, ensuring all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.

Provide additional assistance in the coordination and administration of the program.

Comply with all rules and regulations as stated in the Coaches Handbook.

The above duties are expected of the assistant women's swimming coach. In addition, this individual is expected to support and maintain the rules applied by the Head Coach and the Athletic Director.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required

Experience: Previous coaching experience on the high school, club, or college level in swimming.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of computers, including word processing, excel, and google documents.

Certificates & Licenses: Valid driver's license. Red Cross certification as a lifeguard preferred. Must maintain first aid, CPR and AED certification throughout appointment.

Other Requirements

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

High energy level. Desire to work with young adults.

Ability to effectively promote DePauw University and athletic experience.

Ability to act as a mature role model for young adults and to recruit student-athletes.

Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to get along well with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, and flexible.
