Washington and Lee University invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach of Men’s & Women’s Swimming/Aquatics Coordinator. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position reporting to the Head Coach of Men’s & Women’s Swimming, and the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will also teach in our required physical education program as well as assume the role of Aquatics Coordinator of the new W&L Natatorium, opening in February 2017. Candidates must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student athletes as well as the importance of sportsmanship, competitiveness, and good citizenship in all areas of campus life.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with swimmer training and technique development; practice planning; identification and recruitment of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes; supervising and coordinating team strength and conditioning activities; scheduling all pool activities; hiring, training, scheduling and supervising of qualified lifeguards; developing and scheduling aquatic programming for the pool including classes, swim meets, swim lessons, lap swimming, camps, teams and other aquatic programs as developed and assigned; other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree, collegiate swimming experience and collegiate coaching experience, or the equivalent of education and experience, is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
