Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach, Illinois Wesleyan University and/or Head Senior Coach for Funky Fish Swim Club
Illinois Wesleyan University is hiring a volunteer assistant swimming coach to assist with the coaching and some administrative responsibilities for the men’s and women’s swimming programs. The assistant coach will report directly to the head coach and will be responsible for assisting the head coach in aspects of conducting a NCAA Division III program. This individual will assist with on deck coaching as well as recruiting and other duties conducive to normal coaching responsibilities.
Assist the head coach in duties, such as preparing and conducting practices, training and competition analysis, and other duties as necessary for the conduct of the team.
Comply with all rules and regulations of the athletic department, the CCIW Conference, and the NCAA.
Provide a safe and supportive atmosphere for all competition and practice sessions.
The Funky Fish Swim Club is hiring a Head Senior Coach. The Senior Group consists of swimmers in the 14 – 18 year old age group with the addition of some college age swimmers in the summer season. We are encouraging energetic and motivated coaches who can work with various abilities to apply. This is a part time position with the possibility of additional administrative responsibilities as the applicant desires.
The Funky Fish Swim Club practices at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. It is an 8 lane 25 yard facility with a diving well. FFSC is a year round program that has grown to 160 swimmers since it was started 4 years ago. The Senior Coach will report directly to the club supervisor.
Teach technical skills to swimmers with various abilities from senior and age group qualifiers to entry level high school swimmers.
Develop a training program under the guidance of the club supervisor.
Coach practices 4-5 evenings a week and Saturday mornings.
Attend weekend meets as necessary.
Administrative duties as assigned by the club supervisor.
Applicants must have prior coaching experience, preferably senior level, and/or a high level of swimming experience. ASCA certification is preferred. Applicant must possess or be willing to complete the following certifications in accordance with the requirements for USA swimming coaches’ certification: Coaches Safety Training, CPR/AED training (or lifeguard training), and athlete protection training.
A background check is required by USA swimming and Illinois Wesleyan University.
This position is paid an hourly rate and the rate will be commensurate with experience. FFSC pays for USA swimming registration and most certification costs.
