Job Title: Head Swimming and Diving Coach
Position Description: This position is responsible for the duties normally associated with a Division I head coach including: prospect evaluation, recruiting, training, coaching, student-athlete academic achievement, student-athlete conduct and welfare, compliance with the NCAA, conference & institutional rules, budgetary control, scheduling assistance, promotions, public relations, development activities and the overall affective performance of the student-athletes and coaching staff.
Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, to include counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, sportsmanship and personal matters, as appropriate.
Develop a competitively successful team which represents IUPUI positively and responsibly, and which provides student-athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic and personal goals. Represent the team, department and university in a positive, professional and ethical manner; be appropriately responsive to media, marketing, fund-raising and community service requests, as assigned. Exhibit professionalism in a manner, which is consistent with the missions and goals of IUPUI, conference and the NCAA.
Perform recruiting duties, including, but not limited to: formulate a plan to incorporate coverage of all prospective student-athletes on a national level and recruit high-quality student-athletes that meet or exceed university qualifications. In addition to the duties and responsibilities above the coach is expected to comply fully with all NCAA, conference and IUPUI rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Perform other duties as specified in coach’s employment agreement and as assigned.

Qualifications: REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and two years of coaching experience.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work independently; ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituencies. Maintain certifications in CPR, first aid, and AED. Understand and comply with NCAA, conference, and university rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge, skill and ability in the sport. The incumbent will have to be certified by the NCAA on an annual basis to recruit and understand all policies related to recruiting.
Preferred coaching experience at the Division I level.
