Job Title: Assistant Coach, Swimming/Dive Coach

Position Description: Assists with the coaching and administrative duties of the NCAA Division I swimming and diving program. Primary function is the proper instruction and teaching of the fundamentals of the sport assigned. Secondary responsibilities include recruiting prospective student-athletes as well as monitoring the current student-athletes. Other duties will include sport camp involvements as well as certain NCAA duties. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. COACHING - The Diving Coach is responsible for the teaching of sport specific fundamentals and skills associated with their assigned sport which includes but is not limited to; observing and evaluating performance and demonstrating proper techniques, executing practice plans to improve student-athletes skill level and developing a strong coach-to-athlete relationship in alignment with the head coach’s vision and philosophy. The Diving Coach should strive to incorporate platform training once a week at off-site locations. In addition, the Diving Coach is responsible for providing instruction and feedback to their student-athletes during practice and competition. Assists and supports the head coach with the management of all aspects of the sports program. Serves as coach during practices and meets, provides advice on strategy while evaluating player performance and demonstrating proper skills or techniques needed to perform at a high level. (45%)
2. RECRUITING - Evaluates and recruits high school players, entertains prospective recruits and their accompanied family on campus. Introduces them to the on campus amenities and samples campus life during their tours. Make phone calls, emails or social media contact within the NCAA guidelines for their respective sport. Maintain contact with recruit per Head Coach’s directive and assigned area of responsibility whether that be a region or geographical area or positional responsibility. Monitors the academic performance of certain players as assigned by the head coach. (40%)
3. SPORTS CAMPS - Assists in directing or directs sport camps as requested or required by the Head Coach. Markets and organizes the camps so that they are efficiently run and comply with Athletic Department standards and policies. Databases are kept of those attending camps and all revenue derived from camps is reported to the Athletic Business office. The safety and welfare of participants are monitored. All employees are hired, trained and monitored during camps activities. (5%)
4. NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. (5%)
5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Women’s Swimming & Diving. (5%)

Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years’ dive coaching experience or High School diploma/equivalent and 9 years' dive coaching experience
2. Ability to take direction from head coach
3. Expertise in the technical aspects of diving springboard and platform
4. Strong interpersonal skills
5. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with coaches, administrators, student athletes, recruits and vendors
6. Extremely organized, detail oriented, self-starter and intrinsically motivated
7. Strong management and leadership skills
8. Proven ability to multi-task effectively
9. Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
10. Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
11. Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
12. Travel with sport teams for away contests
13. Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American conference rules and regulations
14. Knowledge of recruiting at a high level of success
15. Understands how to run diving meets
