Position Description: The University of Indianapolis is currently accepting applications for two Assistant Swim Coach positions. These are full-time, exempt staff positions. The assistant coach will perform the responsibilities directed by the head coach. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of the practices, individual training sessions & recruiting. Administrative duties include use of Team Manager, Meet Manager, credit card reconciliation, travel arrangements and other duties as assigned.
Assist with the teaching of all fundamentals and techniques, game strategies, and knowledge of all aspects of the sport.
Assist with teaching team and individual compliance to training rules and operating policies which govern their intercollegiate sport program.
Assist with educating others and supporting the NCAA Division II Strategic Plan.
Assist the head coach with budgeting, requisitioning, accounting for and storing of all athletic equipment and supplies needed and used in the sport program.
Responsible for their own personal conduct according to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University, NCAA and Conference regulations governing intercollegiate athletics, and department operating procedures established by the athletics administration.
Strict adherence to all medical decisions and placing the student-athlete’s health and welfare as a top priority.
Actively recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes in accordance with the philosophy of the University of Indianapolis and in strict adherence to University, NCAA and Conference regulations.
Teach potential recruits the value of the UIndy experience.
Support and monitor the student-athlete’s academic responsibilities by providing guidance to university resources.
Study table oversight when necessary and support for the success of the student-athlete.
Recognize that the head coach is the assistant coach’s immediate supervisor in all matters pertaining to athletics.
Constantly assist the head coach to educate, monitor, control, and supervise the conduct and behavior of the student-athletes in the programs to reflect favorably on themself, their families, and the University of Indianapolis.
Directly responsible for own professional development, and for attending appropriate professional meetings, and for keeping abreast of current trends and developments in his/her sport program and in other related areas in order to perform his/her duties more effectively.
Actively engaged in self-evaluation and reflection through the annual evaluation process.
Continually educate and strive to enhance the image of the University of Indianapolis Athletics Department and its programs through interpersonal contacts with parents, visitors, university faculty/staff, boosters and community members.
Qualifications: Minimum of 2-4 years experience as a player, and/or Coach/Teacher required
Position requires a clean or acceptable driving record.
Bachelor's degree required.
Commitment to the philosophy of NCAA Division II level intercollegiate athletics and a dedication to the philosophy and the policies of the University of Indianapolis, the department of athletics and the NCAA required.
Quality writing and speaking skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with student-athletes, parents, faculty, administrators and outside constituents.
Candidate should be knowledgeable about NCAA Compliance.
