Association Awards

The CSCAA honors coaches and athletes who exemplify creativity, integrity, ingenuity, and competitive drive in representing the swimming and diving community.

National Collegiate and Scholastic Trophy:

The National Collegiate and Scholastic Swimming Trophy is presented to the coach who, in the estimation of the recipient’s peers, has “the greatest contribution to swimming as a competitive sport, and as a healthful, recreational activity in the province of undergraduate and scholastic education.” The award is presented annually by both the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) and the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA). Nominations are valid for two years. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA membership.

Richard E. Steadman Award

The Richard Steadman Award is conferred annually to a swimming or diving coach in high school, club, or university ranks who, in the opinion of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the CSCAA Forum, and the CSCAA, has done the most to spread happiness in Coach Steadman’s beloved sport of swimming and diving. Nominations are valid for two years. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors

Charles McCaffree Award

Charles McCaffree, Jr. led Michigan State University from 1941 to 1969. During that time, Coach McCaffree was a forerunner in the development of equipment, like starting blocks and the modern championship experiences. Through his many contributions, `Mac’ helped spread the popularity of the sport. The Charles McCaffree Award is presented annually to an individual connected to the sport of swimming who has achieved outstanding success outside of the pool. Nominations are valid for two years. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors

Ben Franklin Award

The Ben Franklin Award seeks to recognize pioneering individuals or organizations whose efforts and innovations best promote the integrity and enhancement of the student-athlete ideal. Nominees contributions may be technical, social, economic or though their leadership actions. Nominations are valid for two years. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors.
