Bluefield State Adds Teams for 2021-22

Bluefield State University has become the first university to announce the addition of men's and women's swimming for the 2021-22 season. In doing so, the Big Blues become the second Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to sponsor swimming, joining Division I Howard University. The announcement brings the total of new teams established since 2016 to seventy-three.

Allan Hancock College Adds Men’s Team

Building on the success of its women's swimming and diving program, the Allan Hancock College associate dean and athletic director Kim Ensing announced the addition of men's swimming and diving for the 2019-20 academic year. It is the second addition to the CCCAA, following Hartnell’s addition of men’s and women’s teams in April. It also marks the fourteenth new men’s team to add the sport for the 2019-20 season. An additional nine women’s programs will dive in as well.

Who is Safe?

Our sport is not a zero-sum game.  On the contrary.  It is healthiest when we have a diversity of programs competing for and contributing something of value for their institution.  For some institutions, that means a NCAA or conference championship trophy, while at others it means posting the department’s APR.
